Afrikana Community Center Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Louisville, Kentucky. We are dedicated to empowering African immigrant, refugee, and local families by providing access to education, essential resources, youth development, and a welcoming community where everyone can feel supported and valued.

Many families arrive in Louisville facing language barriers, unfamiliar systems, limited employment opportunities, and difficulty accessing education, healthcare, housing, and other essential services. Young people also need safe places where they can receive guidance, develop leadership skills, build friendships, and prepare for a successful future.

Afrikana Community Center helps close these gaps through:

Youth mentorship and leadership development
After-school enrichment and educational support
English-language and translation assistance
Employment preparation and workforce development
Family resource navigation and referrals
Youth sports and recreational activities
Women’s, men’s, and senior programs
Cultural celebrations and community events

We have already begun serving families through community events, resource connections, youth activities, and our Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway. The strong community response has shown us how great the need is—and how much more we can accomplish with continued support.

Afrikana has now secured a new community space in Louisville where children, youth, adults, and seniors can learn, grow, connect, and thrive together. This center will serve as a safe and welcoming place for educational programs, youth activities, family services, meetings, workshops, cultural events, and community partnerships.
