About The Baltimore Area Sports Health Initiative

Founded in 2020, the Baltimore Area Sports Health Initiative (BASH) is dedicated to improving healthcare for athletes across the Baltimore area. As the first organization of its kind, BASH is at the forefront of enhancing the effectiveness and accessibility of sports health through education, advocacy, and collaborative efforts across multiple disciplines.

Athletic trainers play a critical role in safeguarding athletes. They are essential for injury prevention and providing immediate care when injuries occur. However, one-third of high schools in the U.S. lack access to a dedicated athletic trainer.

The Bash Ball is key in supporting BASH’s mission to ensure that every youth athlete in Baltimore has access to the protection and care of athletic trainers.
