Every piece in this year’s online auction tells a story.

Some were created by the apes themselves—paintings full of color, movement, and personality, each brushstroke reflecting the individuality of the incredible beings who call the Center for Great Apes home. Some are fine art pieces generously donated by supporters who believe in giving rescued orangutans and chimpanzees the lives they deserve. Others are treasured tchotchkes, collectibles, and one-of-a-kind gifts—small and meaningful reminders that compassion can take many forms.

But this auction is about more than the items.

It’s about second chances.

Every bid placed helps provide lifelong sanctuary to apes who have survived lives of entertainment, research, or private ownership. For many of them, sanctuary is the first place they’ve known safety, stability, and the freedom to simply be themselves.

The proceeds from this auction directly support the everyday essentials that make that life possible: fresh fruits and vegetables prepared daily, expert veterinary care, specialized medications, enrichment activities that keep minds active and spirits engaged, and the dedicated caregivers who show up every single day to provide comfort, trust, and consistency.

It also helps maintain and improve their habitats—safe spaces to climb, explore, rest, and connect with their ape families.

When you bid on a painting, a piece of fine art, a collectible treasure, or make a special gift for the apes, you’re doing more than winning something meaningful.

You are helping provide healing. You are helping provide dignity. You are helping provide home.

And for the apes at the sanctuary, home changes everything.

This May, every bid becomes part of their story—and part of yours.

Thank you for being part of something wildly important.
