We invite you to join Urban ArtWorks for “Brush & Brunch,” our 2023 celebration and fundraising event held on Sunday October 1st, from 11am - 1pm at Metropolist in SODO. This celebration and fundraiser will feature community art activities, a program celebrating Urban ArtWorks, brunch-style food and drinks, a silent auction, and more! General ticket prices start at $25. Guests can purchase a $75 ticket to help Urban ArtWorks make this event affordable for more community members! Additional donations can also be made online or at the event. Don't forget to register for the silent auction and start bidding online! More details: We're excited to offer breakfast boxes from Goumondo, including a dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan option. Please wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable! Casual attire is recommended as we'll be painting individual components of a community mural project and enjoying breakfast foods and drinks. Street parking is plentiful and free on Sundays! Doors open at 10:30 AM!
Story
Established in 1995, Urban ArtWorks engages youth, artists, and communities In the creation of public art that inspires connections and honors their voices. In 2022, we worked with 2,685 individuals to create 126 public artworks in 24 Seattle neighborhoods and 12 cities, including 104 paid youth apprentices, 65 local and teaching artists, and over 1,200 volunteers! We prioritize working with individuals facing barriers to accessing art education and employment. Our 2022 youth apprentices are: 69% from BIPOC communities, 55% eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, 61% LGBTQIA+.
All net proceeds from Brush & Brunch will support Urban ArtWorks! We desire to make this event accessible to all of our supporters. We're thrilled to announce that the talented Perry Porter @perrypaints will be our emcee for Brush & Brunch! Perry has been a Teaching Artist for several programs, including this summer's Rainier View MAP! Hailing from Tacoma, WA, Perry is not just a talented painter but also a gifted songwriter. He specializes in watercolor portraiture, with a unique focus on women of color immersed in surreal and manga-style settings. His vibrant colors and free-flowing style reflect not only a sense of playfulness but also an extraordinary level of discipline and control.
