Racine Curling's 70th anniversary campaign to upgrade the facility for years to come.

The Racine Curling Club has provided the area with a first rate curling facility for almost 60 years at its current location. Over that time span, many things have changed, but one thing has remained constant. The club has offered the region with a quality, curling clubhouse. Now we need your help to upgrade the icehouse and to perform much needed maintenance to the building. This will allow the club to continue to offer first class curling experiences for years to come.

ABOUT THE RACINE CURLING CLUB

The Racine Curling Club (RCC) is a member owned, member based 501c3 non-profit organization. It is governed and managed by a volunteer Board of Directors and club member volunteers.

The Racine Curling Club was formally organized on March 2, 1954. Outdoor ice was used at places such as Horlick Field, Root River, Hatter’s Sand Pit, and Armstrong Park. Snow, sun, sand, cold winds and heaves and cracks in the ice made it a game for only the most dedicated players. The Grand Opening of the two-sheet indoor Racine Curling Club was held on February 26, 1966. The Racine Curling Club today provides wintertime activities for over 160 adult and youth curlers from throughout Southeast Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. The club has a rich history of hosting memorable bonspiels and championships on the local, state, and national level.

CRITICAL NEED

This campaign is critical for the RCC to continue providing the region with a quality curling facility. Our ice field is living on borrowed time. The piping and header that distributes the refrigerant to the ice sheet are the original 1966 equipment. The ice sheets need to be extended to be closer to USCA standards and to provide more room for equipment. There are structural and foundation issues that need addressing. In addition, the building requires significant repairs and updates. Your support is critically important RIGHT NOW for the future of curling in Racine.

THE VISION

Creating A Legacy is the Racine Curling Club’s campaign to refurbish our facility so we can serve the region with a high-quality curling facility serving the citizens of the southeast Wisconsin, northern Illinois region. The campaign’s VISION is to fund for the following key components.

Make certain that the club can continue to support the next generation of curling programs offered to the public.
• Upgrade our icehouse playing facility.
• Extend playing surfaces, walkways, walls and roof.
• Increase energy efficiency of the building.
• Improve the aesthetic of the icehouse.
