For his life’s work on children’s rights, Lester was named one of the nation’s “Ten Outstanding Young Americans” by the United States Junior Chamber and one of the “Nation’s Top 12” by NextGen. As a world-renowned public servant, Lester has traveled across the United States and around the world to protect children against workplace abuse, exploitation, endangerment, and hazardous occupations. During his two terms as national president of the Interstate Labor Standards Association, a network of labor officials from each of the 50 states, Lester’s presidency focused on reducing teen worker injuries across the country and eliminating human trafficking of children. As an advocate of school-to-work programs, he led a task force of community leaders that successfully raised $250,000 in scholarships awarded to deserving high school students. He also served four years as a team organizer of the March of Dimes OKC to raise thousands of dollars to save babies!
Something now near and dear to Lester’s heart is his passion to help create awareness about the Children’s Health Foundation (CHF) and to help raise much needed money for children with life-threatening illnesses and rare diseases. Although he has zero dance experience, Lester will be one of the 10 “celebrity dancers” and will give it his all during the next 20 weeks as he prepares to “dance for a miracle” with his professional dance partner Kelsey Rogers at the 18th Annual Dancing for a Miracle (DFAM), Oklahoma’s version of Dancing with the Stars. DFAM is CHF’s signature fundraising event to help raise dollars for breakthrough pediatric research, education, and healthcare for children throughout Oklahoma’s 77 counties!
The dance team of Lester, Kelsey, and their CHF DFAM mentor Damian Heim need your help. As volunteers, they cannot do this alone! You can assist and there are five ways that you can help to generously give!
1) Share our link with everybody you know on your social media platforms.
2) Make a donation of any amount whether $5, $25, $100, etc. All dollars raised stays in Oklahoma for Oklahoma kids! 90 cents of every dollar goes to children!
3) Purchase a ticket or sponsor a table that seats 10 people at this year’s DFAM scheduled Saturday, August 22 at the Embassy Suites in Norman.
4. Donate an in-kind donation which would include gift cards, gift certificates, gift baskets, adventure outings, etc.
5. Explore corporate sponsorship opportunities at various levels that would promote your employers logo on marketing materials and on screen during DFAM.
Please join the dance team of Lester, Kelsey, and Damian! TOGETHER, we can make a HUGE difference to help our most valuable resource in Oklahoma which is our children and grandchildren!
THANK YOU so much for considering making a donation to this great cause. Your generosity and support is greatly appreciated!
