We are Angry Asian Womxn and we have given out over 3,600 self defense kits to Asian Pacific Islander (API) women, API femmes and gender expansive APIs since the rise in anti-Asian racism and misogyny. Our self defense kits aren’t just there for folks to use to physically defend themselves, but they are also tools to make people feel safe and empowered. Since we’ve started our project, a wave of anti-trans and anti-drag entertainment laws have swept the country.

As of mid 2023, 82 anti-trans bills have been passed across the states. 74 of the 82 bills are active and paired with serious legal consequences. Furthermore, there are an additional 369 anti-trans bills that are in the works; meaning that they too have the potential of becoming law. If that’s not horrendous enough, there are 23 national pieces of anti-trans legislation that if passed, would rule at the federal level. (Data via translegislation.com)

Additionally, we want to state that our Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) trans sisters and siblings face immense, heightened harm. They are not only enduring anti-trans hate, bigotry, and legal actions, but also the impacts of deep rooted racism.

We are watching as our trans sisters and siblings are being used as political scapegoats, but with very dangerous, real world consequences to the hateful rhetoric. We refuse to sit idly by while this is happening and we want to help in our way.

We would like to mail out free self defense kits to BIPOC trans women in states with anti trans legislation, and in our hometown of NYC. Each kit would contain a kubotan, a personal alarm, a whistle, a Trans Folks Will Live Forever sticker, and a self defense booklet by Trans Fighters.

For top donors of $1200, we will be offering a customized Angry Asian Womxn workshop for your organization or group of friends!
