We are excited to announce the first annual Where is EB? fundraiser benefiting Team PHenomenal Hope, and we need your support to make it a success! Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 22nd, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, at the Annenberg Community Beach House, for a morning filled with fun, light refreshments, and a 5K walk to kick things off!

The event will culminate with encouragement and cheer as Eric begins his journey walking from Los Angeles to San Diego to raise funds and awareness for PH. We hope you will take the opportunity to join us and help support patients living with pulmonary hypertension.

ERIC'S STORY

My name is Eric "EB" Borstein. On September 21^st, 2020, while at home, I collapsed from massive right heart failure and almost died. I spent sixteen days in the intensive care unit at Cedars Sinai Medical Center where I was diagnosed with an extremely rare disease called pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). A disease with no cure.

In the days, weeks, and months after leaving the hospital, walking became my biggest ally. A short walk in the neighborhood soon turned into a mile, then two miles, and eventually I was walking longer and longer distances. I found that walking helped get me through the miserable side effects attributed to the medications, it assisted in keeping me mentally fresh and provided me so many additional benefits. And still does to this day. With these walks the miles began to add up, and I am proud to say that in the calendar years 2022 and 2023 I totaled over 10,700 miles!

On September 22^nd, 2024, almost four years later to the day, I begin my walk from Los Angeles to San Diego to raise money and awareness for patients living with pulmonary hypertension.

WHO IS TEAM PHENOMENAL HOPE

Imagine not being able to breathe…the things you take for granted would undoubtedly change.

Since 2012, Team PHenomenal Hope has been empowering and serving the courageous living with pulmonary hypertension (PH) through support, services, education, and research. We fund medical research and implement programs focused on removing patients from isolation and providing them hope while addressing and alleviating their unmet needs through much-needed financial support.

Team PH was founded by Dr. Patricia George when she and her friends trained and raced their bikes across the country to raise funds and build awareness of PH. Through this extraordinary experience, our Let Me Be Your Lungs program was born, pairing patients with individuals who wanted to continue supporting knowledge and understanding of the disease, while fundraising to help fight back against it. Since 2019 Team PH has awarded the PHenomenal Impact Fund for Global PH Research to investigators in the field to transform the quality of care and improve lives.

Thanks to the many generous supporters, Team PH provides direct-to-patient microgrants to address their unmet needs and offset the high cost of living with or raising a child with PH. Team PH hosts a national virtual support group administered by PH patients to discuss mental and physical behavior change topics offering patients a safe environment on topics that matter most to them, and we host a series of annual webinars covering the latest updates and PH information attended by the entire community including patients, caregivers, healthcare providers and industry leaders. Team PH also offers Pediatric PHun Days at no cost to children living with the disease and invite their families and siblings to join in on safe activities that can renew hope and uplift spirits while offering kids with PH a rare opportunity to enjoy certain pursuits that most others take for granted. And this year we are launching PHenomenal Connections, connecting newly diagnosed patients to trained peer supporters living with the disease to discuss shared experiences and better manage living with PH.
