At Valley Oasis, our roots are in domestic violence services. Founded in 1981 to provide safety and shelter for survivors of domestic violence in the Antelope Valley - our mission has since grown in response to the complex realities that our participants face. For many, escaping abuse also means facing homelessness, trauma, and ongoing healing needs.

As a trusted nonprofit, we offer a comprehensive range of vital services, including immediate sexual assault response and advocacy, as well as specialized therapy for children affected by abuse and trauma. These critical programs work alongside housing support, crisis intervention, and counseling to help individuals and families reclaim safety and rebuild their lives.

Meet The Impact: One Family's Path to Healing

At just 30 years old, a courageous single mother of three made the difficult decision to flee domestic violence. With no stable income and no support system, she and her children were left moving between motels—living in constant fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. Financial hardship and lack of child care weighed heavily on her, making it nearly impossible to move forward.

When she connected with Valley Oasis through our Families Homeless Services, hope returned. She received access to safe housing, mental health resources, legal support, employment services, clothing, furniture, and a case manager who stood by her every step of the way.

With support, she learned to budget, created a strong resume, secured full-time employment, and watched her children begin to thrive in ways she once thought were out of reach. She no longer lives in fear. Instead, she’s looking ahead—to continuing her education and advancing in her career.

Meet The Impact: Daniel’s Journey to Renewal

When Daniel, just 9 years old, arrived at Valley Oasis with his mother, he carried the weight of trauma far too heavy for a child. He had survived sexual abuse at the hands of someone who was supposed to protect him. The fear, confusion, and silence had taken a toll—he barely spoke, avoided eye contact, and had trouble sleeping through the night.

Through the trauma-focused services at Valley Oasis, Daniel found a safe space to begin healing. With the support of our child therapists and advocates, he started attending weekly art and play therapy sessions. Slowly, his voice returned. He began drawing, laughing, and sharing what he had gone through in ways that felt safe and supported.

Today, Daniel is enrolled in school, surrounded by a caring community, and continuing therapy. He tells his mom that he wants to become a police officer one day—to protect other kids like him.
