Refugees flee to Uganda from neighboring countries to escape war, violence, and persecution. They come, usually empty-handed, seeking safety. Instead, many are vulnerable to violence, abuse, trafficking, and exploitation. Uganda welcomes refugees with open arms, but there are very limited social services available for refugees living in Kampala. Amani Sasa is the leading organization in the capital city, Kampala, providing complete, holistic care to the most vulnerable refugees.

Since its founding in 2013, Amani Sasa has filled a significant gap in social services in Kampala. We are the leader for in-depth, holistic care and support of the capital city’s most vulnerable refugee men, women and children. We began the first shelters for refugee women/children and men in Uganda.

Our approach to holistic care includes emergency services, trauma healing and rehabilitation and equipping refugees for success through business, leadership and skills training.
