"This is the best day I've had since October 7th," she said with tears rolling down her face.

"You don't know how much your words mean to us," he said with tears in his eyes.

"I've lost so many people in the last year," she said with tears in her eyes.

"It fills my heart to know that we are not alone," he said with tears in his eyes.

These are just a few of the responses received for showing up and speaking up on behalf of the Jewish people. As you may know, since October 7th, FireKeepers International (FKI) has been busy advocating on behalf of the Jewish people and the State of Israel while providing disaster relief in FKI's hometown region of East TN-WNC.

The Appalachian people and the Jewish people are both going through an unexpected trauma of deadly proportions. Both suffered the loss of friends, families, and homes and faced long-term recovery as winter and cold days approach. Both communities have expressed the same sentiment.

For the past year, Dr. Laralyn's elderly father, Grey Bear, has tirelessly made a painful sacrifice of joy: Though his hands are riddled with painful arthritis and it hurts him to do it, he has been making Cherokee Tear Bead Necklaces, donating them to FireKeepers International for the RiverWinds to give away to Jewish people as they mourn the loss of loved ones, friendship, peace, and security. He even grew the tear beads in his garden, tenderly nurturing the plants from seeds.
