Friends of Potentino, Inc. is dedicated to safeguarding our valley's natural heritage. Through research, education, community engagement, and art, we're working to create a sustainable future for generations to come.

Our valley's rich history, biodiversity, and unique microclimate make it a prime location for conservation. By studying these environments, we can develop more effective strategies for climate adaptation and habitat restoration to protect it. With a little help, we’re keeping Potentino alive and thriving—one inspiring project at a time!

Thanks to our donors, collaborators, and community, Potentino has flourished as a hub of creativity, innovation, and celebration of the rich history and ecology of the Potentino Valley. We’re thrilled to highlight some remarkable projects from this year that generous support has made possible:

Canva custom creation

Biology student Noortje joined us from the Netherlands to conduct a comparative study of insect pollinators, helping us understand their vital role in Potentino’s ecosystem. Her findings will guide conservation efforts for these essential creatures. Hear her findings for yourself here!
Led by Dr. Greg Warden, our archeology students returned to unearth the treasures (and stories) from Potentino’s past. With students and experts alike, these discoveries deepen our understanding of the valley’s fascinating past and focus on the heritage, archaeology, and biodiversity of this fragile landscape. FOP artist Lucas Gutierrez turned vineyards into visual art with Denizens, a world-first multimedia installation that brought the frequencies of Potentino’s vines to life. Part of our free to all ‘On the Walls’ Film Festival, this project transformed grapes into gripping cinema - projecting their visual essence live across the vineyards… see for yourself!
Looking ahead, Erika Comina’s FILO project will weave together oral histories from local families to preserve the traditions, memory, and knowledge of the Potentino Valley. A living archive of stories is coming your way!

To raise funds for Friends of Potentino we have decided to host an online auction offering a wide range of offers on castle cooking experiences, art and design from our residents, tuition from experts ranging from revered chocolatiers to award-winning authors, and getaways at the castle.
