The Gift of Swimming is a nonprofit organization founded in 2002 in Central Florida with a mission to provide access to drowning prevention resources and swim lessons for underprivileged and at-risk children. The organization was born from the deep concern over the high rates of childhood drownings in Florida, a state with one of the highest drowning rates in the U.S., particularly among children under five.

Recognizing that many families in underserved communities lacked access to swimming instruction due to financial barriers, The Gift of Swimming began partnering with social service agencies, schools, and childcare centers to identify children in need. The program emphasizes water safety, survival skills, and confidence-building, offering professional swim instruction through certified swim instructors in a controlled and supportive environment.
