The University of Montana is lucky to have both a planetarium on campus - in the Payne Family Native American Center - and an outdoor observatory located on Blue Mountain. Our astronomy program trains students to give live presentations to schools and the public. These students are lovers of the sky. They spend three to four years of their University education sharing their passion with people of all ages.

This summer, our student presenters will travel to Germany to participate in the International Planetarium Conference in Jena and Berlin. It is the 100th year of the modern planetarium and to celebrate - we will visit the original. To raise money for their travel costs, these students are crafting live planetarium shows and hosting a private evening at the Blue Mountain Observatory.
