Who are we?

Providence Swings is a non-profit organization in Rhode Island. Our goal is to spread the joy of Lindy Hop and other dances of the Swing Era. We want to build and sustain a vibrant community of dancers in Rhode Island. We are excited to provide an inclusive space with a focus on rhythm, movement, and historical context.

What happened to Providence Swings?

Like many dance communities, Providence Swings was deeply impacted by the pandemic and has been on pause for the past five years. But now we’re back! A new board has been elected, and we’re full of energy and big ideas to revitalize the Lindy Hop scene in Providence.

We’ve kicked things off with our Comeback Dance, and our next step is to offer exciting educational opportunities through classes, workshops, and social dances. Our Lindy A class series is already open for registration—an amazing first step!

But to make our full comeback a reality, we need your support.

Where will the donations go?

Your donation helps cover essential costs like studio and event space, live bands and musicians, instructor fees, teacher training, and signature Rhode Island events like Bread and Butter Jam and The Dirty Dozen weekend. Organizing a dance scene is joyful, but it's also a lot of work. Our board members are all volunteers, giving their time because we believe in this community and want to see it thrive.

Our dream is to make Providence Swings a cultural touchstone in Rhode Island again—and with your help, we can.
