In celebration of the late painter Jonas Gerard's 83rd birthday in the stars, his daughter, Mira Gerard, is releasing special archival objects and art from Jonas' life and work. Discover rare and unique items including vintage prints, studies, small sculptures, painting tools, clothing, memorabilia, restored paintings recovered from the flood, and select paintings from Mira’s private collection.

Jonas would often give away and sell his studio aprons, shoes, and other paint-covered objects and clothes to people who came into his studio, in awe of the colorful patina of shimmering and encrusted globs and smears of paint that covered just about everything. This is a wonderful opportunity to collect some of the most unique works and objects from Jonas’ expressive life at a more accessible price, in the spirit of Jonas’ generosity and exuberance.

Jonas Gerard (Casablanca, Morocco, 1941-2020) was a self-taught spontaneous abstract expressionist painter. He began his artistic career on the streets of New York City and spent many decades in the Miami area. In his later years, he operated two 5,000 square foot galleries which both included their own working studio in the Asheville, NC River Arts District. Jonas’ playful use of high quality acrylic paints guided by the rhythmic influence of music created a very large, vibrant body of work.
