Who We Are

Assistance League® of Riverside is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization whose mission is to clothe, comfort, and educate children in the local community. It has been in existence for 58 years. The Corona-Norco Branch of Assistance League® of Riverside was organized in June of 2021 to serve the needs of students in the Corona Norco community. We do this by working closely with the Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD).

What We Do

Operation School Bell® (OSB):

OSB is the signature Assistance League program in chapters across the nation, providing school clothes to economically disadvantaged K-12 students in local communities. Our Branch has worked directly with CNUSD to clothe 568 students since we began.

Students Overjoyed About Reading (SOAR):

With the help of two Teachers on Special Assignment in CNUSD, SOAR offers tutoring services to first through third grade students needing help with basic reading skills. Branch members and community volunteers have participated in SOAR at Todd Elementary School for the last three years, and we expanded the program this year to include Orange Elementary School. We have tutored over 375 kids, and testing data from Todd indicates that significant improvement has occurred in the reading scores for almost all of them.

Financial Literacy:

Tutoring in Financial Literacy began as a collaborative effort with CNUSD two nyears ago. Branch members and community volunteers have worked primarily with fifth and sixth grade students, teaching them financial literacy using an online program. In each eight-week session, we have increased the number of participating CNUSD schools.

Bear Pals:

Through Bear Pals, we provide stuffed teddy bears to organizations who work directly with children in traumatic situations, such as police, hospitals, fire stations and other non-profits. To date, we have distributed 400 bears that have provided much needed comfort to children in our community.
