Kansas Academy of Theatrical Arts

30+ Years. KATA Confident. KCK Proud.

KATA has 30+ successful years of building character, equipping youth and launching leaders to be creative assets in the Kansas City, Kansas (KCK) community and beyond.

“We're proud of our 30+ year legacy in KCK’s diverse community,” said KATA’s Founding Director Judi “Mama” Jones. “We remain the only independent, comprehensive performing arts youth program in Wyandotte and Leavenworth Counties.”

COVID presented a challenge to all Arts organizations. At KATA, we pivoted and offered new programs in innovative ways. We expanded performing arts resources that encourage and promote student, teacher and parent participation!

During that season, we even published a book, "You Are Made of Stars" by our 2020 intern Sasha Reid.
