In Northern California, a dedicated group of Eastern Star members, led by Margaret Lunn from New Hope Chapter, took on a creative challenge: to craft afghans and blankets using only leftover and donated yarn. The goal? To support the California Eastern Star Scholarship Fund, which helps high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students pursue their educational dreams.

Determined not to purchase any new yarn, members scoured their stashes and collected donations. Over the following months, knitting needles and crochet hooks danced as each member crafted unique pieces, turning forgotten yarn into beautiful afghans. These creations, each filled with love and care, were then prepared for auction, with all proceeds earmarked for the scholarship fund.

Every afghan sold will bring the fund closer to its goal, helping to provide financial assistance to deserving students. Through this challenge, the Eastern Star members are not only crafting warm blankets but also helping to stitch together brighter futures for California's youth.
