My name is Brian Prather. I am married and a father of two, a daughter and a son, and we live in Laguna Niguel, California. I reinjured my neck in April 2026 and have been bedridden for the last four months. I have been on short term disability with no pay, enduring severe physical and mental pain, including a dozen procedures, surgeries, and hospital visits.

I am raising support for a stem cell procedure because I have tried every medical procedure and treatment legally available in the U.S., and this is the final puzzle piece I need to heal. Without this procedure I fear I may never get back to normal or work again, and I am doing everything I can to protect my family.

My service and career

I spent almost 10 years on active duty in the U.S. Army as a surface to air missile defender, supporting operations overseas out of Okinawa for the threat in North Korea, including tasking in Thailand, South Korea, and mainland Japan.

In 2010 I reclassed to a contracting officer and supported U.S. Southern Command for contracting mission support in Central and South America, as well as 3rd Infantry Division for their NTC deployment to Afghanistan.

I was medically retired in 2013 after breaking my spine and having several spine fusions.

After the Army, I spent the last 13 years in tech building startups and working at big tech companies, specifically advocating for veterans and helping vets get hired in tech. This resulted in a national award as 2021 Veteran Champion of the Year in corporate America for GI Jobs magazine. The last five years has been focusing on building AI startups in Hollywood and raising my family.

What I'm seeking treatment for

I am seeking treatment for a neck injury with bulging discs in C4 to C7, nerve compression, an SCM strain, a torn neck tendon, and low back pain in the L4 L5 S1 fusion areas.

How this affects daily life

I live in chronic pain and have to use a spinal cord stimulator and pain medication just to function and work. I am limited at times in physical ability, including playing with my kids, but I try to stay as active as possible to be strong.

Since the neck injury, I have been bedridden for four months.

What I'm hoping to achieve

I am hoping for full range of motion, loss of severe vertigo and nausea, loss of brain fog and neuropathy, and decreased neck and back pain.
