Welcome to Butler County Children's Mental Health Day 2025 campaign!

South Central Mental Health Counseling Center will host its 6th Annual Butler County Children’s Mental Health Day on Friday, June 27, 2025. This is a free and family-friendly event that promotes awareness, wellness, and connection to local resources for families of Butler County.

This year, we are proud to spotlight Social Stars Learning Center East, our early childhood mental health education program in El Dorado. Founded in 2009, Social Stars East is one of only three licensed childcare centers in El Dorado and serves children ages 2½ to 6 who are unable to succeed in traditional daycare or preschool due to emotional or behavioral challenges. The program provides a lifeline to children and families with nowhere else to turn, while also serving as a mental health resource for other early childhood providers in the area.

Due to recent Medicaid reimbursement cuts and increased operating costs, the East site is at risk of closure. To help sustain this vital program, we are seeking monetary donations to help offset funding shortfalls, maintain staffing, and ensure continued delivery of early mental health intervention services for some of our community’s most vulnerable children.

Major renovations and health and safety repairs that are necessary to help maintain the Social Star East program include:

New playset for playground ($2500)
New ADA-compliant entry ramp ($3000)
New refrigerator ($700)
