The Sioux Falls Chapter of the First Responders Foundation has a mission of supporting first responders and their families. This month, the chapter is hosting as event to bring together first responders from all disciplines for comradery and activities for children of all ages. The funds raised will provide vital support to the Engberg family during a challenging time.

Miles Engberg, a courageous 5-year-old and the son of Firefighter Eric Engberg, and his wife Ellen Engberg, was diagnosed with Batten Disease in February of 2024, a terminal neurological disease. With Ellen taking time off work to focus on her family, and Eric balancing his demanding roles, the support from our community is more crucial now than ever.

Eric has been a dedicated member of the Sioux Falls Fire Rescue (SFFR) for 7 years, including 3½ years as a training officer. He has also served with the Sioux Falls Police Department (SFPD) as a SWAT medic for over 5 years. Before joining SFFR, Eric was an Army Ranger for 6.5 years, completing 6 tours in Afghanistan.
