PeanutButterPigs Guinea Pig Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Angleton, TX. We work hard to ensure abandoned and lost guinea pigs get a second chance at life, ensuring they get back to full health and find a loving family! Unfortunately, the cost of their care is higher than ever, from vet visits to essentials like bedding, food and supplies. We are currently spending far more on our rescue efforts than what we have recently received in donations.

We have been spending almost $2000 monthly managing our rescue due to some piggies needing frequent vet visits as well as our bedding sponsorship finally coming to an end. To ensure we are still able to fund essential needs of our rescues without draining the funds we are saving for a development of a small building where adopters can soon visit. We are hosting a holiday fundraiser to hopefully help out our rescue.

What is PeanutButterPigs Guinea Pig Rescue?

PeanutButterPigs Guinea Pig Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Angleton, TX, proudly serving the greater Houston area. While we officially became a non-profit in May of this year, we’ve been rescuing and rehoming guinea pigs for over a year, with more than 40 guinea pigs rescued to date!

Our rescue plays a vital role in the community, as many traditional animal shelters aren’t equipped to provide the specialized care that guinea pigs require. That’s why having a dedicated rescue like ours is so important. By supporting PeanutButterPigs, you’re not only helping us care for guinea pigs in need but also easing the burden on local shelters, allowing them to focus on cats, dogs.

As the only rescue in Houston that focuses exclusively on guinea pigs, we’re committed to giving these small pets the proper care and attention they deserve.

What is this building you mentioned?

Our guinea pig rescue is currently a residence based rescue, which can make adoption appointments and interest visits difficult as they need to be scheduled. With the generosity of Country Grove Gardens, in angleton TX. We are developing an adoption center on their property that people are welcome to visit to adopt, play with the guinea pigs or take classes to learn about the care that's needed to own a guinea pig.

We are very excited to start this development as it will allow us to increase our capacity from a max of 15 guinea pigs to possibly in the 100's. However, a project of this scale is not cheap so we are hoping for donations so our monthly expenses of running the rescue does not hinder our efforts to start the project in 2025.

Where will any extra funds raised go?

Any additional funds we receive will go toward oreo the guinea pig's vet bills. He is a special needs guinea pig in our care with otitis media (an infection of his middle/inner ear) We have been treating him but his condition still has yet to improve so we want to have a specialist at
Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists take a look at him as well as get him a CT Scan. We expect this could be over $3000 so any additional funds will be going toward pursuing his treatment.
