Prevent Child Abuse Vermont is a 45-year old private non-profit whose mission is to promote and support healthy relationships within families, schools, and communities to eliminate child abuse. PCAVT has three areas of work:

Family Support Programs
Child Sexual Abuse Prevention
Abusive Head Trauma prevention and Safe Sleep promotion

PCAVT also offers the Vermont Parents Helpline, 1 800 CHILDREN, and publishes and distributes the Vermont Parents Home Companion and Resource Directory to all parents of newborns, and the Parents and Caregivers Guide to Protecting Children from Child Sexual Abuse.

PCAVT staff provide in person and online live trainings and programs in partnership with other organizations, schools, and early childhood programs. We train trainers from other organizations with the knowledge and skills for preventing all forms of child abuse by promoting healthy child development and relationship skills. Our Train the Trainer programs help to increase capacity to reach children, youth, and the adults who care for them.
