The Puerto Rican Police Association is a public service law enforcement organization
that is composed of working and retired law enforcement professionals of Puerto
Rican descent in the greater Chicago area.

The PRPA is a 501(c) 3 community based organization, recognized, incorporated, and chartered by the State of Illinois. The PRPA was founded on October 16th, 1978 in Chicago, Illinois.

The organization was originally established by Chicago Police Officers in an effort to organize law enforcement professionals of Puerto Rican descent. The membership is largely of Puerto Rican descent, also employed by or retired from city, county, state, and federal agencies.

The PRPA has encouraged law enforcement professionals from all ethnic backgrounds to become active associate members of the organization.

The PRPA has also invited well respected members of the community, who share the same vision, ideals, and principles, to join as civilian associate members.

The PRPA has strived to develop a sense of unity and understanding between all law enforcement, all law enforcement professionals and the communities they serve and protect.
