Show Your Pride!

Through our Outside with Pride event, the Y and members of our community are able to come together to show our support for our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors, while acknowledging the important history of the LGBTQ movement in our society, and raising awareness about progress still needed to achieve full equality.

Shirts will be on sale for the entire month of June, corresponding with Pride Month, celebrated each June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan, which marked the beginning of the Pride Movement in the U.S.

Outside with Pride is brought to you by the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges’ LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Network Group, which works to support the needs of LGBTQ+ employees within the Y movement, through career and professional development, training, and mentoring, so all voices can be represented in our organization.

We have developed internal teams including a Diversity and Inclusion Committee (DIG) to discuss ways in which we can be more welcoming to all who come through our doors. Various DIG subcommittees including our “Break the Silence” work group and Employee Resource Groups are advancing our conversation internally and helping to address the needs of staff.
