My Dear Yalla Kafala Family,

This World Refugee Day, I keep thinking about the Refugee mothers I've met in Egypt. Women who lost their homes, their children, and still wake up every morning and figure out how to keep their families together.

We throw around the word "resilience" like it's a compliment. For these women, it's just survival. It's what you do when there's no other option and your kids are watching your face to decide if they should be scared.

They're not waiting for someone to rescue them. They're already working. They just need us to show up.

Here's what's happening on the ground

The women in our MIRA Center embroidery workshops in Egypt are mothers, most of them widowed, all of them far from home. Some found out a child was buried while they were in another country, too far away to say goodbye. Some haven't had a full night's sleep in years. All of them are raising kids with almost nothing, and no clear picture of what comes next.

The Yalla Kafala Refugee Fund exists to make sure they're not doing it alone.

How to contribute

We want to be clear about something: every dollar you give goes directly to these women. Nothing taken out for overhead. Nothing lost to admin. It goes to her, for her family.

There are two ways your support reaches them:

Buy a handcrafted piece. Every item in our collection was made by one of these mothers. The full base price goes straight to her hands.

Bid above the base price. Every dollar above it goes into the Refugee Fund, covering legal support, mental health care, and programs built around what these women actually need.

When you buy a piece, you're not just getting something beautiful. You're giving a mother the income she earned and the dignity that comes with it. Your extra bid is what keeps the program running for everyone else.

Browse the collection and place your bid. Or make a direct donation to the Refugee Fund if you'd rather give straight to the cause.

These families deserve more than survival. Help us get them there.
