This year we honor one of Rembrandt’s longstanding collaborators, Chicago composer Stacy Garrop. Stacy has greatly impacted both the history of Rembrandt Chamber Musicians and the history of American classical music. Her work, centered on dramatic and lyrical storytelling, takes audiences on sonic journeys—some simple and beautiful, others complicated and dark. Her wide-ranging catalog includes award-winning and nationally recognized works for orchestra, wind ensemble, choral and solo voice, string quartet, piano trio, opera, and oratorio. Rembrandt Chamber Musicians is fortunate to have worked closely with Stacy for many years, most recently commissioning the sextet Chiaroscuro in honor of Rembrandt’s 30th anniversary in 2019.
