Hurricane Help Florida was born from experience—and fueled by heart.

Our founder, Kristen Seeley, first stepped into disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Mitch, one of the deadliest storms to ever hit Central America in 1998 and made six separate trips to Honduras, helping rebuild a church and school. That experience sparked a lifelong mission: to help communities prepare for and recover from natural disasters.

After Hurricane Katrina, Kristen spent two years working in New Orleans East, living without electricity for six months while helping families gut their homes, navigate insurance claims, and rebuild one day at a time. She saw the long, painful road from survival to recovery—and how many families are left behind when the headlines fade.

That lived experience lit a fire that never went out.

Now based in Florida, Kristen and a dedicated team of board members, friends and volunteers are continuing that mission—one family, one home, and one storm at a time.

Hurricane Help Florida provides critical support before and after hurricanes, including:

Emergency relief and storm preparedness
Furniture and rebuilding materials
Help with navigating insurance, FEMA, and home repairs
A rescue and response platform that connects retired special force volunteers with families in need the first 24-72 hours

But we can’t do it alone.

Roast for Relief is more than a night of laughter—it’s a lifeline. 100% of net proceeds from this event go directly toward helping families in the Greater Tampa Bay area prepare for hurricane season and recover from past storms. When the spotlight fades and the last joke lands, your support remains—showing up in the form of rebuilding materials, furniture, appliances, and hope.
