Through our various therapeutic programs that happen year-round, we hear comments like this every week. One teen told us she only got out of bed that morning because she knew she’d be going to the farm. She had hope — just knowing she’d spend time with the farmers, her fingers in the soil, grounded and unburdened.

In addition to these therapeutic programs, Light Root is home to farm-based education programs for kids, teens and aspiring young farmers. They experience animal-powered farming with draft horses and cows. They run among our 150 hens, helping us collect eggs. They milk cows and harvest vegetables. Kids are getting to experience true farm work, not just a petting zoo.

The impact: over 850 people spent time in our programs on the farm last year!
