About Saint Thomas Aquinas Women's Rugby Team

Women's 7s — Built from the Ground Up. Crowned at the Top.

The STA Saints Women's 7s squad is something special. Launched in 2023, they didn't just enter the arena — they rewrote expectations. In their very first season, they claimed the Girls' 7s High School State Title. Then they did it again. And again. Three consecutive state championships across Kansas and Missouri — a dual-state reign that has made them one of the most formidable women's 7s programs. In just the fourth year of existence, they have been invited to the Girls 7s National Tournament in Idaho. What an honor for the current team and the alumni who started the team.

What makes Saints Women’s Rugby even more remarkable is who these athletes are. Our women's squad is comprised of students from More than 10 junior high and high schools across the Kansas City metro — young women who didn't grow up playing together but chose to build something special together. They've traveled to Colorado and Nebraska, competing in tournaments that tested them in new ways, earning hard-fought victories and walking away from difficult losses with heads held high and lessons to build on.

Rugby demands intense physical and mental fortitude — and these athletes bring both, every time they step on the pitch. But what defines the Saints women's program is something that goes beyond the scoreboard: a deeply supportive sisterhood, built through shared sacrifice and mutual belief.

These girls are trailblazers. They are proof that a program, a community, and a championship culture can be built from scratch — and that women's rugby in Kansas City has arrived.
