We are so excited to host Dr. David Lewis from Stanford University for this event!

Dr. Lewis is head of the lab that conducts all of the research affiliated with SIOD. He and his team have made groundbreaking discoveries over recent months and are working in conjunction with some of the brightest minds in research for other areas as well. Dr. Matthew Porteus has played a big role in working with Dr. Lewis to help perfect his Caspr9 technology to use with SIOD research. To date, our lab has been able to produce Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells that are being used to create tissue from all major organs. Scientists are then able to give each tissue sample the disease and have created a D-tag for use to switch off the disease in the tissue. These are major advancements in research toward finding new treatments for not just SIOD, but other diseases related to kidney issues, migraines and more.

Proceeds from this purchase will go directly to Kruzn For A Kure Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in 2016 to respond to the needs of children diagnosed with Schimke Immuno Osseous Dysplasia (SIOD). Kruzn For A Kure Foundation provides $30,000 monthly to Stanford University to conduct research and testing to help find treatments, and ultimately a cure for this rare, fatal form of dwarfism.

Currently, the Foundation is working to fund the second phase of drug therapy research for the disease, which is $350,000. This is in addition to the $360,000 we send per year to keep the lab operational. To date, we have raised over $3 million dollars in funding for this disease and have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine for some of the groundbreaking treatments the doctors and scientists have developed.
