Join us for Fun, Food, Music, and Beer at the first annual Oktoberfest & Silent Art Auction Fundraiser for Haiti.

The STM Oktoberfest will kick off Saturday, October 28th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with brats & sauerkraut, music, beer, and more. There will be two special guests! Christina Davis, a local Lynchburg muralist and artist, will provide an art experience, and Maryann Laverty, a retired Caribbean dance professor, will give Haitian dance lessons.

The Silent Art Auction will be displayed in Chelsea Commons beginning October 21^st. Bidding will open at 6:00 p.m. for the fantastic artwork from local artists, some of whom are our very own St. Thomas More parishioners like Delmas Phelps, Jill Jensen, Peggy Terrell, Carolyn Prince, Ron Reekie, and our former pastor and friend, Fr. Richard Mooney. Bidding will close at the end of the Oktoberfest, 2:00 p.m. on October 28th.

The Oktoberfest and Silent Art Auction are in response to a drought followed by torrential rains in Haiti this year. The rural mountainous farming community of Savanette has experienced total crop failure. Father Joel, pastor of Our Lady of the Nativity, has requested additional funds to help feed the school children this school year. Each child recieves a hot lunch to ensure that they are able to focus on thier schoolwork.

And remember nothing says Haiti like Oktoberfest!
