13th Annual Apalachicola Mardi Gras Barkus Parade & Street Festival Saturday, February 24, 2024 Festival 11:00 am – 4:00 p.m. Parade begins at 1:00 pm Riverfront Park, 199 Water Street, Apalachicola, Florida Come and celebrate Mardi Gras Apalach style with a street festival and parade of costumed dog and their people! This year's theme is Git Along Little Dogies, so dust off your cowboy boots, grab your cowboy hat and bring your canine companions for a day of ye-hawing and excitement. If you're looking to expand your furry family, the King and Queen of Apalachicola’s Mardi Gras parade are always shelter dogs who are up for adoption. The festivities include live entertainment, local food vendors and a variety of arts and craft vendors. March your pup along with Lofty Pursuits Marching Band as the parade winds through town, ending back at the park where live entertainment and a silent auction fill out the day. Registration is $5 for walkers, $25 for golf carts, and $50 for floats. Dogs, of course, are free. In the tradition of the Mystic Krewe of Salty Barkers, profits from the parade will be donated to help care for the animals of the Forgotten Coast of Florida. Beneficiaries have included Franklin County Humane Society, the Florida Wild Mammal Association and the Apalachicola Dog Park.
