Every year, people in our community face the daily challenges of living with epilepsy — a condition that affects not only those who experience seizures, but also their families, friends, and caregivers.

For many, the journey is filled with uncertainty: navigating medications, managing triggers, coping with stigma, and trying to live a normal life in a world that often doesn’t understand what epilepsy really means.

Our silent auction was born from a simple but powerful idea: to turn compassion into action, right from the comfort of your own home! Throw on your sweats and cozy slippers to support people in our community!

Funds raised through this event will help provide access to:

Educational programs that empower families to understand and manage epilepsy.
Support services for individuals navigating new diagnoses and changes in treatment. Including prescription assistance, transportation, and support with neurology visits.
Community outreach and advocacy aimed at breaking down stigma and promoting understanding.

Behind every bid is a story of compassion — a family learning to live without fear, a child gaining confidence, a person finding community. Together, we can make sure no one faces epilepsy alone.

Why Silent Strength?

The term "silent" not only references the holiday classic song but also has a connection to epilepsy. It is called "silent" because some seizures, particularly absence seizures, can be subtle and may not involve convulsions or a loss of consciousness. Our goal is to provide individuals with epilepsy, their families, and caregivers with strength and support during the holiday season and throughout the entire year.

Meet Will, a member of the community living with Epilepsy.

My name is Will*, and I want to personally thank you for the difference you’ve made in my life.

I’ve lived with epilepsy for as long as I can remember. It’s been a tough journey, especially during the times when I didn’t have access to the medication I needed. Without it, I could have multiple seizures in a single day. That’s not just scary; it’s dangerous.

A while back, I lost my health insurance and couldn’t afford my prescriptions. I didn’t know where to turn. That’s when my girlfriend told me about the Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Tennessee. Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, they were able to help me access my medication. That support gave me peace of mind and a chance to live with fewer seizures and a better quality of life.

Because of you, I’m now working to restore my insurance and take steps to improve my future. I’ve always tried to adapt to what I call “my new normal,” but now, my new normal is filled with hope and stability. And that’s because of you.

Your gift doesn’t just help the Foundation, it helps real people like me. You give me the chance to live a safer, stronger life. I’ll never forget that.

What to know about the auction

The auction will run from 12 am on December 3, 2025, through 11:59 pm on December 10.
After the auction is finished, items can begin being picked up between December 15-17. Times and locations will be announced later.
All items MUST be picked up before December 19.
If items can be emailed, they will be sent on December 15.
