A Vision Comes True

In March 2024, Sisters in Cinema will be adding to the rich fabric of South Shore with the opening of the Sisters in Cinema Media Arts Center. This is set to be a historic event with officials and media makers from around the country joining together to celebrate and honor Black leadership, history, and creativity.

The opening of the center marks a new chapter in the Sisters in Cinema story, making this the biggest iteration of the project that has spanned the last 30 years.

An endeavor like this takes a community; we’re grateful to count you as part of ours. Your support is pivotal in continuing to build a world where Black girls, women, and GNC media makers can create and thrive.

The Sisters in Cinema Media Arts Center grand opening will be commemorated with a weekend of events from March 15 - 17th, including a community open house with free Smartphone Storytelling Workshop. The center will be open to the community and offer workshops, screenings, scholar resources and opportunities to network with industry professionals.

Our new home will be a vibrant and dynamic space for Black women, gender non-conforming media makers, and community members to showcase their exceptional work and collaborate with fellow creatives. This visionary project has been made possible through the commitment and dedication of our CEO and founder, Yvonne Welbon.

The grand opening marks a significant milestone, the culmination of 30 years of Yvonne's dedication to centering and celebrating Black women and gender non-conforming media makers. Join us for a weekend of celebrations!
