RecUniversal's Pushin' The Positivity Skate Jam is coming back September 10th! With the help of Anvil of Hope, and AleSmith Brewing Company again this year, along with our open skate sessions, you can also register to skate with the pros!

The purpose of this program is to bring skateboarding, and its community to local, financially disadvantaged kids, whom otherwise might not have access. Children from families living in poverty are 3 times more likely to suffer from mental health issues, and experience a significant amount of trauma in which they have very little resources to seek or find help. Skateboarding provides benefits both recreationally, and mentally, teaches independence, patience, self-forgiveness, perseverance, and is FUN!

Before kicking off our Skate Jam, we are hosting a private clinic with eight kids and their families, and hooking the kids up with all the skateboard equipment they will need to begin their skateboarding journey, as well as a free clinic, and lunch. Funds raised through this Skate Jam go directly back into this program to open an outlet for more kids at future Skate Jams, as well as our other year-round events, to allow us to continue serving our community and providing a resource for those struggling with mental health complications.

Once our private clinic and luncheon concludes, we will open up the converted AleSmith Brewing Company barrel room skatepark to YOU for our Skate Jam and fundraiser!

Tentative Schedule

12:15pm - 1:00pm: Under 10 years old open skate session

1:00pm - 2:15pm: 10 - 12 year old open skate session

2:15pm - 3:30pm: 13 - 17 year old open skate session

3:30pm - 4:00pm: Guest pros skate session

4:00pm - 5:00pm: Skate With The Pros open skate session (ALL AGES NON-BEGINNERS ONLY)

5:00pm - 6:00pm: Best Trick Contests (Keen Ramps Slap Stick and Keg Ollie - $150 prize each)

PARTICIPANTS MUST ALL REGISTER AND SIGN OUR WAIVER BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN ANY SESSION. 17 YEARS AND UNDER MUST WEAR A HELMET. NO EXCEPTIONS.

SPECTATORS, AND PARENTS OF SKATERS - THERE IS NO COST TO ATTEND AND ENJOY THE EVENT BUT WE ENCOURAGE DONATIONS, ITEM PURCHASES, AND/OR BRINGING ESSENTIAL ITEMS FOR THE FAMILIES FOR THEM TO TAKE HOME.

RecUniversal a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing recreational events that create healing spaces through various types of recreation, for individuals suffering or have suffered from trauma, mental health complications, and suicide. All events and projects benefit these individuals and this community directly by way of participation in our programs aimed to provide resources and a source of healing and recovery, and indirectly through partnerships with other nonprofits and charities related to the specific events and projects.
