With the help of Anvil of Hope, The Sk8 Coach, AleSmith Brewing Company, and Sk8Mafia, RecUniversal introduces its inaugural Pushin' The Positivity Skate Jam.

The purpose of this program is to bring skateboarding, and its community to local, financially disadvantaged kids, whom otherwise might not have access. Children from families living in poverty are 3 times more likely to suffer from mental health issues, and experience a significant amount of trauma in which they have very little resources to seek or find help. Skateboarding provides benefits both recreationally, and mentally, teaches independence, patience, self-forgiveness, perseverance, and is FUN!

Before kicking off our Skate Jam, we are hosting a private clinic with a dozen kids from Southeast San Diego along with their families, and hooking the kids up with all the skateboard equipment they will need to begin their skateboarding journey, as well as a free clinic, and lunch. Funds raised through this Skate Jam go directly back into this program to open an outlet for more kids at future Skate Jams, as well as our other year-round events, to allow us to continue serving our community and providing a resource for those struggling with mental health complications.

Once our private clinic and luncheon concludes, we will open up the converted AleSmith Brewing Company barrel room skatepark to YOU for our Skate Jam and fundraiser!

Tentative Schedule

1:00pm - 2:30pm: 12 years old and under open skate session and contests

2:30pm - 3:00pm: Sk8Mafia Pro Demo

3:00pm - 4:30pm: 13 - 17 year old open skate session and contests

4:30pm - 5:00pm: Keg ollie contest opens up to everyone 18+. $500 to winner for most kegs ollied

5:00pm: Raffle winners announced and product toss
