I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of this year. One day later found out that a friend from work had been diagnosed as well. You hear the statistics a lot, but being diagnosed and then starting to speak to people about it you really start to see the reality of those statistics. Nearly every person I have spoken to has a mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend that is currently battling or survived breast cancer. I am 45 and got my first mammogram after feeling a lump. I am blessed to have good insurance and work for an amazing company. I can’t imagine being in a situation where you couldn’t take that first scary step and go get a mammogram because you can’t afford it.
