For this first edition of the Ultra Rare Collection, we are humbled and deeply grateful to be collaborating with 26 artists, including renowned illustrators, like recent Cannes Lion winners, Cachete Jack, Emmy-nominated puppet maker, Laura Manns, fine artists, soft and metal sculptors, fashion designers, disabled artists, Ryan Hudson-Peralta and Jess Oddi, and even Rollie Krewson, the Master Puppet Designer and Builder at The Jim Henson Company, who has worked on every Henson production since the mid-70s, winning her 13 Emmys.

The Ultra Rare Collection: A fundraising initiative of Project CASK, the Ultra Rare Collection is an online art auction bringing together diverse artists to create one-of-a-kind works of art to help treat and cure an ultra-rare disease.

Project CASK: Project CASK is a parent-led, scientifically guided nonprofit with a mission to accelerate breakthroughs in research to develop treatments and a cure for CASK gene disorders - an ultra-rare and debilitating neurogenetic disorder affecting less than 300 people globally. With this small population, science and industry have little incentive to pursue therapeutic development. Project CASK was launched in August 2023 to ignite and accelerate translational research into promising options for CASK and to galvanize interest and resources to make treatments a reality as quickly as possible.

Our motto: “Rare as unicorns. Strong as lions" and our spirit animal is the Liocorn.

How the funds will be utilized:

Seed grants: Project CASK has organized the first-ever global scientific meeting on CASK (4 December 2023) from which we will release our first funding call in January 2024 for small-scale seed grants to answer the most pressing basic research questions that we need to answer to support developing treatments.
Proof of concept studies: We have research teams poised to start proof-of-concept gene therapy studies to explore their feasibility for CASK.
Research tools: Therapeutic development depends on a wide range of research "models" so Project CASK is building out a biorepository of models to facilitate and accelerate research studies.
