Honoring Scott D. Sheffield, CEO of Pioneer Natural Resources, one of the premier independent energy companies in the United States, with The Raymond Plank Award for Visionary Leadership.

Join us on November 2, 2023, at The Revaire in Houston, Texas, as we honor our Founder, Raymond Plank, and present the 2023 Raymond Plank Award for Visionary Leadership to Mr. Sheffield for his innovative leadership and contributions to the oil and gas industry. Nothing exemplifies Mr. Sheffield’s visionary leadership more than his foresight and commitment to unlocking the enormous potential of the Permian Basin Region, which provides the United States and the world with much-needed energy. Mr. Sheffield will be introduced by the recipient of our 2019 Raymond Plank Award for Visionary Leadership, Mr. Rex Tillerson.

The evening will feature performances by Ucross alumni Kate Schutt and Sarah Sample, a performance by Alley Theatre performer Susan Koozin, a live art demonstration by Ucross alumnus Seth Tummins, a celebration of our program partners from Houston, and an auction. The live auction will provide excellent opportunities to bid on some exciting travel packages, experiences, and items.

All funds raised before and during the event will assist Ucross in completing our 40th Anniversary Campaign, which supports residencies for more than 115 artists each year, thoughtful stewardship of our historic 20,000-acre ranch, and continued investment in our program and facilities. MISSION STATEMENT
Located in northeast Wyoming in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains, Ucross fosters the creative spirit of deeply committed artists and groups by providing uninterrupted time, studio space, living accommodations, and the experience of the majestic High Plains, while serving as a responsible steward of its 20,000-acre ranch. Residencies are awarded to around 115 artists each year. Ten artists are in residence at one time, typically a mix of visual artists, writers, composers, and choreographers. Since the residency program began in 1983, Ucross has supported more than 2,600 artists.
