Breast Cancer Awareness is an important cause to the Catawba Women's Soccer Team. We all know someone who has been impacted by this disease. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to "" at the request of this year's women's soccer honoree Leigh Ann.

Leigh Ann was diagnosed with stage 1 triple positive breast cancer in February 2024 following a routine mammogram. After completing 18 weeks of chemotherapy, Leigh Ann is in her last two weeks of radiation and has 9 months of maintenance chemotherapy remaining in her treatment plan. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime , and every two minutes, a woman in the US is diagnosed with breast cancer. Early detection is key when fighting any cancer. Leigh Ann wants to encourage everyone to get their preventative cancer screenings. Just like in athletics, Leigh Ann says sometimes in life, you have to play to win. The cancer is your opponent, the medical team are your coaches, and your family and friends are your teammates.

Leigh Ann would like to thank Michelle, her family, friends, and the Catawba Family for all of the love, prayers, and support they have given her during her fight.
