Emotions Matter is thrilled to welcome you back to our premiere fundraising event, the 5th Annual Walk for BPD. We are offering the Walk for BPD in a hybrid format:

In Person (NEW LOCATION) - Pier 46, Hudson River Park, New York City Sunday, June 2, 2024 9:30 to 12:00 p.m.
Virtual - Walk with a team in your community to raise awareness about BPD, and watch the Walk ceremony speakers via video.

Choose how to Walk for BPD and Participate

Whether it is walking as a group in New York City, or walking around the block with your dog or family, on a treadmill, or simply inside your home, Walk for BPD. Everyone impacted by BPD can take part in this awareness day, wherever you live, your way, to provide programs which support recovery.

Invite Others to Join the Cause and Spread Awareness

The Walk for BPD is an opportunity to educate people in your social network and community. BPD is a serious mental illness affecting up to 1.4% of the population with symptoms including emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, and suicidality. It continues to be a highly stigmatized and misunderstood disorder. It's Emotions Matter's mission to change that. Consider forming a walk team and join the cause.

Feel Inspired and Get Connected to our Community!

Meet Emotions Matter volunteers and others impacted by BPD at our in-person event. Connect with others virtually through social sharing by taking pictures of your "Why I am Walking Sign," or posting a selfie of you walking during our Facebook Live event. Listen to our speakers who will share recovery stories promoting hope and breaking stigma.

“Being a part of the Walk for BPD was life changing. Being surrounded by people who went through the same thing as me made me feel like I wasn’t alone. I felt empowered,” a previous walk participant shared.

Raise Money to Support People with BPD. Emotions Matter depends on financing from the BPD Walk to continue offering its programs at no cost to people with BPD. Your gift will allow people to get free support when they need it most.

Important Information about the Walk for BPD:

Train Directions from Penn Station: You have two options if coming from Penn Station by train. Your first option: Take the 1 Line towards South Ferry, get off at Christopher Street and walk 0.5 miles to Pier 46. Your second option: Take the C Line towards Euclid Ave., get off at 14 St/8 Ave. and walk 0.7 miles to Pier 46.

Bus Directions from Penn Station (or Surrouding area): You have two options if coming from Penn Station by bus. Your first option: Walk 400 ft to 7 Ave/W31 St. Take the M20 towards South Ferry Via 7 Ave Via Bat Park City. Get off at 7 Ave S/Waverly Pl., and walk 0.5 miles to Pier 46. Your second option: Walk 0.3 miles to 9 Ave/W 30 St. Take the M11 towards West Village Abingdon Sq Via 9 Ave. Get off at Hudson St/Bethune St. Walk 0.4 miles to Pier 46.

PATH Directions from New Jersey: Take the PATH towards Journal Square. Get off at Christopher St. and walk 0.3 miles to Pier 46.

Parking: There are two Parking Garages that are located within 5 minutes of our starting point. They can be found on 140 Charles St. and 275 W. 10th St. You can also park in the garage located at Pier 40, however, that is about an 8 minute walk to our starting point.

Restrooms: Bathrooms can be found at Pier 45.

Walking Distance: The walk is about 3.5 Miles in distance. Walking the whole distance is optional, as walkers can turn around at any time to head back to Pier 46. We start at Pier 46 and walk to Pier 25 and back!
