Why Now? Understanding the Urgency

The "Loon Resistance" campaign is a direct response to a humanitarian and constitutional crisis unfolding in Minnesota right now. Since early January 2026, our neighbors—including U.S. citizens and those who have followed every legal requirement for residency—have been subjected to a surge of federal enforcement that has shattered the peace of our community.

We are witnessing unprecedented violations of civil rights:

The Targeting of Legal Residents: Under "Operation PARRIS," federal agents are conducting warrantless seizures of lawfully present refugees, often detaining them at their workplaces or homes and transporting them to facilities as far away as Texas without due process.
Violence on Our Streets: In the last three weeks, two people have been fatally shot by federal agents in Minneapolis—Renee Nicole Good, a mother and poet, and Alex Pretti, a local ICU nurse. These incidents have sparked widespread protests and calls for de-escalation from Minnesota’s top CEOs and city leaders.
Stalking Schools and Families: Reports have surfaced of federal agents trailing school buses and waiting at bus stops, effectively using the daily routines of children as bait to trap parents.
Education in Crisis: To protect students and families from being targeted during drop-off or dismissal, Minneapolis and St. Paul Public Schools have been forced to move to virtual learning or offer remote options through mid-February.

As Anderson Cooper highlighted in a recent broadcast on the escalating violence, federal agents in Minneapolis have been documented using "unchecked" tactics—including firing pepper balls and tear gas from moving vehicles—that operate outside standard law enforcement practices.
