For 35 years, Samaritan Counseling Center Hawai’i has provided mental health services to residents throughout Hawai’i regardless of their ability to pay.

We were founded in 1989 by two University of Hawai'i social work students, Terry Fisher and Judy Hormell, who wanted to establish a counseling center where a person’s faith could be a source of strength in the healing process.

Every two years, Samaritan Counseling Center Hawai’i nominates and selects well-deserving individuals and organizations that have exhibited extraordinary commitment to our island community. Known as our Ho’omenemene (Compassion) Awards, we recognize and honor our award recipients to say “Mahalo Nui Loa” for their service and dedication.
