On the 6th of November, our community came together in the Bayview for an evening of talent, nourishment, and reminders that we have always had the power to keep ourselves alive. We listened to impassioned artists as they reminded us of our purpose; we smiled when we remembered all we've achieved in five years, and we rolled up our sleeves with new goals to achieve so that our communities can be safer together. For the next five years, and the five after. For generations to come.

Ranon said it best when he shared with us that evening - what started as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic quickly evolved into a wide-ranging care system that placed San Francisco's most overlooked and underserved individuals first. Black, Indigenous, People of Color families in neighborhoods that don't go on postcards. Those living paycheck to paycheck, forced to make some crucial decisions when an unfortunate visit to the emergency room presents itself.

For five years, we at Safer Together have been building community, revolutionizing community health, and saving lives, so that families won't have to choose between food on the table and clean air in their lungs. Now, our frontline staff - our Community Health Workers - have completed thousands of hours of trainings, certifications, and field work meeting our communities' needs where they are. 500 buildings are now equipped with air purifiers and air monitors. Over 170 of our family members have reversed overdoses and saved lives.

To continue keeping the community safe when no one else will, we need your help. Our goal of 60K is far, but still attainable. 60K to ensure every home in the Bayview has an air purifier. 60K to ensure everyone has an arsenal of tools to prevent opioid overdose. 60K to build out a network of leaders who look like us, sound like us, love like us, and place us first.
