About Despierta

Who We Are
Despierta is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Latina women through mental health resources, leadership development, and personal growth opportunities. Since 2020, we’ve served over 2,500 women and youth in Charlotte, helping them build resilience, achieve independence, and create brighter futures.

We believe in breaking generational cycles of poverty and fostering a supportive environment where Latina women can rise and thrive. Despierta offers culturally relevant resources and programs that prioritize emotional wellness, promote academic and professional success, and encourage pride in cultural identity. Together, we aim to inspire growth, confidence, and a stronger, united community.
