Join us for a night that celebrates Fathers
A tradition started at the YMCA

Over a hundred years ago, Sonora Louise Smart Dodd envisioned establishing a special day to commemorate fathers. Dodd, raised by a single father and veteran of the civil war, William Jackson Smart, held her father in high regard. Upon hearing a sermon about the recently established Mother's Day, Dodd questioned why fathers didn't have a similar holiday. With the backing of ministers in Spokane, Washington, Dodd's dream became a reality when the initial Father's Day celebration took place at the Spokane YMCA on June 19, 1910.

Keynote Speaker: Wayne Judge

Wayne Judge, the father of NY Yankees superstar outfielder Aaron Judge, will discuss what it's like being a sports father and how the Y helped.

We will honor coaches who have played a vital role in keeping our
sports alive during the challenging times of Covid.
