The Young Scientist Academy (YSA) invites you to a special morning dedicated to sparking curiosity, empowering future leaders, and celebrating the impact of STEM education. By attending the YSA Annual Breakfast, you’ll directly support expanding access to high-quality STEM programs that inspire youth from North Carolina to Moldova and beyond.

What is YSA?

Founded in 2017, YSA is a nonprofit organization that provides engaging in-school, afterschool, and summer programs for elementary and middle school students. Through hands-on laboratory and field research, YSA empowers students to think critically, investigate their questions, and craft meaningful solutions to real-world problems.

Making STEM Accessible for All

At YSA, we’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive scientific community by providing free programs for students who face barriers to accessing high-quality STEM education.

YSA impacts over 400 students every week through our programs.
75% of our students are female.
85% face significant barriers to access hands-on, inquiry-based STEM lessons.

Increase Science End of Grade (EOG) scores for students by up to 116%.
Expand our Teach STEM program, which mentors teachers in executing high-level STEM lessons and integrating YSA activities into their classrooms.

In 2025, our goal is to double the impact of the Teach STEM program, growing from 4 to 8 teacher participants and reaching even more students across our region.
