The Light and Leadership Initiative (LLI) began as a collaborative effort between Huaycán locals and U.S. citizens in 2007. By 2008, LLI established itself as a 501(c)3 U.S. non-profit, registered for educational purposes, and started its educational programs in 2009.

Our focus is to provide educational high quality free opportunities to kids, teens, and women in Huaycan, and to do so we've created three different programs that are adapted to each group and focus on their needs and interests.

Our Kids Program is an after-school enrichment program, offering English classes, computation, yoga, reading, science, and much more.

Our Teens Program provides a safe space for the Huaycan youth to continue their education but also socialized and develop their leadership skills along with their pairs.

Our Women's Program consists of a six-month finance course for female entrepreneurs. Women can learn about basic finances, budgeting, marketing, sales, and others, and once they've completed the course they will receive an official certificate.

Last but not least, we have Huaywasi, our fair trade project.
